The book’s 629 pages appears intimating at first glance, before you realize that the chapters are well-illustrated, the sections succinct, and the tables frequent. The mark of good editing is bringing together the content from multiple distinguished contributors into a unified style, and Moscucci makes each chapter read as though it were written by the same author…It is very apparent that the author and contributors meticulously planned the structure of the book and executed it effectively. (The book) provides a clear-headed summary of what can happen in the cath lab, how to manage it if it happens, and how to prevent it from happening again.� For the experienced cardiologist, the book serves as an illustrated teaching tool, a review of the grading systems and prevention techniques of complications, and a toolbox of expert techniques for rescue. For the starting interventional fellow, reading this book may not be sufficient to pass the Interventional Cardiology Boards, but is a good start to safely performing interventions independently. A Fantastic Book Dedicated to Complications

Finally, a cardiovascular procedures book dedicated to complications...whether they be coronary, structural, EP or peripheral. Pretty much hits every topic you want to know about prior to experiencing it live. I love the technical sections that not only instructs the reader on how to deal with these complications but provides excellent pictures and illustrations. There is also an online access section with bonus cases and video clips. Would highly recommend to any interventional attending or cardiology fellow.

The date of publication and Table of Contents suggested this would be the best book I could purchase to cover the cases. Indeed, it provides a broad overview and covered each topic as well or better than any previous books I've read on complications in interventional cardiology or electrophysiology. I recommend it to anyone participating in malpractice legal work and also to cardiologists trying to avoid complications.

Mother cat makes a special dinner of fish sandwiches and milk. All dig in except the blue cat, who refuses dinner, a cupcake (``Yum-Yum''), and a bedtime story. When his mother asks if he is sorry for the way he acted, he says ``no.'' Since she ``looked worried'' and ``also looked very sad,'' the cat seemingly makes amends until the final page when mother says that he must be sleepy, and he jumps up, shouting ``NO!'' The Baby Blue Cat who said no

I bought this delightful book years ago for my older child. She and I read it over and over again and now we read it with our younger child. The book paints a sweet family scene of a mother cat and her kittens. One particular kitten, Baby Blue Cat, doesn't like to go along with the mother's nightly rituals and learns a lesson about cooperation. The kitten stills keeps her/his spirit and spunk and my kids can really relate with Baby Blue Cat. They love the part where they can yell the kitten's line -- "and then Baby Blue Cat said 'NO!' " It's delightful. All my friends who have read it also love the book. I had not been able to locate the book until now, and I was thrilled to see you have it. "Baby Blue Cat who says no" should be in every young kid's library. I highly reccommend this book. Thanks, Ainslie Pryor!

Universally beloved by little kids

I agree wholeheartedly with the other user reviews here: this book is immediately and universally appealing to young children -- there's just something about it. It was my daughters' favorite book some 20 years ago, and now it's also my grandson's first choice. Hard to figure out how Marianne Pilla of the School Library Journal could be so far off the mark in her sour review. "Manipulation at its worst"? She obviously has no idea what little kids like.

I appreciate this book very much!!

I just bought this for my Kindle, and I have Eddie's first book, which I will re-read soon, as well. When the student is ready ... I felt that with all that I had why do I need something else. I have met the statements of many lottery jackpot winners, there are numerous stories where people prayed and won a lottery, of varying amounts, that literally saved them at the last minute from losing homes. Some stories go into a thought process, but most you simply glean. What is very common with many jackpot winners and others, is that they use quickpicks and they're not big lottery spenders -- it's affirmations, visualizations (together or not) with a lot of faith and trust.

This book has shown me, through these experiences, where I still need work in my overall transformation, and the amazing amount of what I am doing that is in line with manifesting great things that I desire and require, and that I totally deserve. I really appreciated the second story, because this is someone who manifested good while the outer appearance and circumstances was definitely difficult. Walking "by faith and not by sight" is, I feel, the most difficult part and the second part is dealing with negative people -- the worst of which can be those closest to you, especially if they are part of the religion you grew up with, and you made the mistake of discussing stuff with them. I got called a liar and a heretic and everything in-between by someone I love. Lesson learned -- and you'll hear Eddie tell you this -- zip your lips. On the other hand, in reading lottery stories both in the States and in EuroMillions, people have endured ridicule, because they didn't keep it to themselves, but they obviously managed to withstand the naysayers and realize the truth of this law.

I truly feel I was led to this book today, after listening to Eddie speak on YouTube and not even knowing that this second book existed, and I've been going through thoughts of discouragement, and what I had wasn't enough at the moment.. So this has helped me immensely. I could even tell by reading the one story the exact books Melissa must have read, because I recognized her wonderful affirmations. About four months ago I, too, started writing affirmations and statements down -- just seemed a natural thing.

So, in short this book gave me encouragement and a big boost -- and that, my friend, is gold!

The greatest "down to earth" book on LAO

This is the greatest "practical" book on LOA that I have read so far, so thank you Eddie for sharing with us the real techniques behind LAO. It is easy to get lost in all the books that explains how you should think and act, but the fact is that in the end of the day you give up because you feel that LAO doesn't work for you, This book explains, with examples about real people who successfully applied LAO in their lives, that LAO works for everyone as long as you are serious and consistent about it, and if you really believe and apply in your daily life positive thinking and gratitude. And that even if it takes time to manifest, you just have to be persistent, keep believing and trust yourself. Great...just by reading all the stories in the book I got greater confidence that LAO really works. Thank you again for this great book, the work you have put in it and that you share it with all of us.

Another Winner from Eddie Coronado

This is another helpful book from author and lottery winner Eddie Coronado.

I've been following the suggestions I gleaned from his first book for about 5 months and this stuff REALLY WORKS if you are consistent in your efforts. I have had more opportunities of various kinds come my way in the past few months, than I have in a LONG time, before that. This also includes winning consistently more $$ on tickets I've bought and other prizes too.

If you are in need of some encouragement or direction how to make the LOA really work in your own life, this is definitely a worthwhile book to check out.

I'm taking off 1 star as I would have enjoyed reading a few more true life examples of lottery winners, being included. I did enjoy Eddie's first book more as it's very in-depth and I continue to re-read parts of it, when I'm in need of a "boost" to keep myself on track with affirmations, visualizations etc...both books are well worth the small amount that the eBooks cost and the rewards can be huge and long-term too!

When Addiction is a Good Thing

"The purpose of the church is to bring God glory through the worldwide proclamation, reception and worship of His Son," says David Shibley. "That is our corporate purpose. It should be our individual purpose as well." With that premise as foundation, Shibley's The Missions Addiction (Charisma House, 2001) is a masterful analysis of the church and missions in today's global culture. The church should take note of Shibley's latest title because he speaks from experience. He has personally ministered in 51 nations and is founder and president of Global Advance, a ministry that provides training and resources for thousands of pastors in 50 nations.
"I am personally convinced," he writes, "that there were dramatic advances for the gospel worldwide in the 1990s and that those previous ten years were a mere prelude to what God will do in this decade." For example, he cites the fact that, at the end of the year 2000, the JESUS film had been seen by more than four billion people, with almost 129 million people registering decisions for Christ.
Other predictions are more sobering: increased conflict for the church, more militant religions (especially Islam), and a more exacting standard for Christian leadership.
He sees American isolationism as a critical concern for spreading the Gospel. "The possible merits of protectionism juxtaposed against globalization may be argued in politics," he acknowledges, "but a protectionist mentality in the church is always suicidal. There are no merits to `spiritual protectionism'; it is always lethal. The most patriotic thing I can do for America is love the world."
Again and again he challenges, both by offering hope and encouragement, and by articulating obstacles to overcome. He says teens in missions are at once a cause for great hope and great concern. More American teenagers went on missions trips last summer than ever before, but Shibley says, "[W]hile Gen-Xers and millennials are spiritually hungry, they are also often biblically illiterate and tend to value relevancy over truth."
Shibley's passion for missions is contagious, his heart for missionaries transparent. He narrates countless stories of martyrs and others who have sacrificed all to follow Christ to the mission field -- often in the missionaries' own moving words. For example, he shares the story of a couple who stayed in Afghanistan when all other foreigners were evacuated: "The evacuation convoy came and left without us. Our neighbors were puzzled. Later we heard them call us no longer `the foreigners,' but `the people who stayed.' "During our first Christmas, ...over 50 women and their children all squeezed into our home, a little living room, to hear the advent story. Some wept... Others ran to their husbands and told them to go to the house of `the people who stayed' and hear the Good News."
Recurring themes include the need for unity in the Body, and the necessity of adherence to Scripture. The Missions Addiction is a valuable reference book, meticulously documented with hundreds of notes and index entries; it is a history, citing the thoughts of centuries of missions greats; and it is a call to action, challenging believers to tell the Good News.

REICH EXPOUNDS ONE OF HIS MOST CONTROVERSIAL THEORIES.

Wilhelm Reich (1897-1957) was an Austrian psychoanalyst, who tried to reconcile psychoanalysis with Marxism, and contended that neurosis is rooted in a lack of what he called "orgastic potency." He claimed to have discovered a cosmic sexual energy he call "Orgone," self-publishing books about his increasingly controversial theories, and selling "Orgone Accumulator" boxes commercially, for which he was ultimately imprisoned for violation of FDA regulations, had his books burned, and died in prison. He continues to be a popular (if polarizing) figure, and his books are all still in print, such as Early Writings, Character Analysis, The Mass Psychology of Fascism, Selected Writings: An Introduction to Orgonomy, Listen, Little Man!, The Function of the Orgasm), Murder of Christ, etc.

The Editor of this 1979 publication stated, "The Bion Experiments is Wilhelm Reich's detailed account of his laboratory investigations on the origin of life... it set off shock waves of indignation and controversy culminating in a savage newspaper attack that made Reich's continued sojourn in Norway impossible and caused the dismissal of his collaborators... from his university position in France." (Pg. v)

Reich wrote in the Preface, "From Freud I adopted the hypothetical equation of life impulses and sexual impulses. Once I had succeeded in refuting his theory of the death instinct and in developing my orgasm theory, I was able to proceed to experimental biology. The experimental proof of the identity of the sexual energy process and the life energy process is thus simultaneously a confirmation of Freud's hypothesis." (Pg. 4-5)

He states, "When using strong water-immersion lenses at a magnification of 2300 to 3000x, I was able clearly to observe pulsation at individual points in the contractile formations." (Pg. 50) He adds, "I became more and more convinced that these were probably living forms whcih were, so to speak, incomplete; for example, the movements of the pseudo-amoebae were abrupt, slow, tremulous without any inner flow; i.e., 'mechanical'. The objects must therefore be in preliminary stages of life. For my own convenience, I called them 'bions.' Could complete living organisms develop out of the bions?" (Pg. 51-52)

Later, he observes, "For the time being, we must say that probably all unorganized matter has the ability to produce life, depending on its composition and environment. Life can burst forth anywhere for a short or long period of time, given the right conditions." (Pg. 114) He adds, "Spontaneous generation, however, can also mean that now, continuously, in every minute and every second, life is developing from non-living substances. If this can be proved beyond all doubt, it would naturally not contradict the development of life from germs, because spontaneously generated life would maintain itself through reproduction." (Pg. 144) He asserts, "It is obvious that all life must possess a common basic rhythm, a common basic law which it should be possible to detect in every detail of life." (Pg. 162)

Reich's writings are nearly all controversial; this one, perhaps more than most.

About the Author

Professor Peter T. C. So is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Biological Engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, MA. He received a B.S. degree in physics and mathematics in 1986 from the Harvey Mudd College and a Ph.D. degree in physics in 1992 from Princeton University. Professor So joined MIT as a faculty member in 1996. Professor So has published over 75 research papers in refereed journals, over 30 refereed conference proceedings, many book chapters, and numerous scientific abstracts. He is also the co-inventor of five patents related to microscopy and instrumentation.

Barry R. Masters is a visiting scientist in the Department of Biological Engineering
at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a visiting scholar in the Department
of the History of Science at Harvard University. He was formerly a professor in anatomy at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He is a Fellow of the Optical Society of America (OSA), the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE), and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). Professor Masters has published 81 refereed research papers and 128 book chapters and articles. He is the editor or author of Noninvasive Diagnostic Techniques in Ophthalmology; Medical Optical Tomography: Functional Imaging and Monitoring; Selected Papers on Confocal Microscopy; Selected Papers on Optical Low-Coherence Reflectometry and Tomography; Selected Papers on Multiphoton Excitation Microscopy; Confocal Microscopy and Multiphoton Excitation Microscopy: the Genesis of Live Cell Imaging; and with Peter So, Handbook of Biomedical Nonlinear Optical Microscopy. Professor Masters is a member of the editorial board of Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology. His research interests include the development of in vivo microscopy of the human eye and skin, biomedical imaging and spectroscopy, and the fractal analysis of branching vascular patterns.

About the Author
Dr. Clarice Pennebaker Brantley frequently conducts seminars at state, regional, and national meetings. She taught communication and other business-related courses for 37 years at the secondary, postsecondary, and university levels. She co-authors "Communication Tidbits and Hotlinks," a regular column in the electronic journal, The Balance Sheet. Dr. Brantley and Michele Goulet Miller also wrote The Basics: English. Among her publications are chapters titled "Listening" in the 2005 NBEA Yearbook and "Communication" in the 2003 NBEA Yearbook. Dr. Brantley maintains active membership in national and international professional associations: National Business Education Association, International Society for Business Education, Association for Business Communication, and Delta Pi Epsilon. A leader in community organizations, she serves on the State and Western Division Board of Directors for the Children's Home Society of Florida, She regularly participates in the Gulf Coast Economics Club, Pensacola Women's Alliance, and the Panhandle Tiger Bay Club. Her education includes earning a bachelor' degree (summa cum laude) in business administration from Valdosta State University and a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Michele Goulet Miller teaches a variety of business-related courses, including business communication, software applications, and medical office courses, at Milwaukee Area Technical College. In addition to teaching responsibilities, she works closely with employers to establish onsite experiences for students in certificate and associate degree programs. She is actively involved in program development based on daily experiences with the employment community in Southeastern Wisconsin. Ms. Miller also co-authors The Basics: English with Dr. Clarice Pennebaker Brantley and Effective English for Colleges with Dr. Jack Hulbert. She currently co-authors Communication Tidbits and Hotlinks� and is a past co-author of GrammarLinks, both regular features in the electronic journal, The Balance Sheet. This text is highly effective for teaching communications!

Pensacola Junior College has used Effective Communication for Colleges in our Business Communications class for several years. This textbook includes just exactly what we need to enable our students to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. The emphasis on grammar review is highly relevant and well constructed. The examples shown are timely and appealing to our students. Supplementary materials are helpful and easy to access. Keep up the good work!

DO NOT USE THIS TEXT

I used both the previous edition and current edition of this text to teach college students. Both editions were full of errors and contradictory statements. In particular, you cannot rely on the instructor materials- there are many test questions that have answers that are contradicted in the text. Also, the grammar exercises are too difficult for an introductory text- they test students on advanced grammar concepts that are not even covered by the book! There is a grammar reference section at the end of the text but it does not cover the majority of concepts tested in the end-of-chapter grammar exercises. So, my students were continually frustrated. Many of the examples in the book are also very strange- for example, instead of PowerPoint, they speak of "computer generated slides".

Missing pages

I ordered the book. I knew it was a used book but I had no idea pages were missing. Not only am out the money I paid for this book. I had to buy another book.
