I jumped in to public accounting later in life than most people (age 31) and had ambitions to either work my way up to partner at an existing firm or eventually start my own firm. Heather's book gave me the road map and confidence to achieve my professional goals. Any time the going gets rough (networking, learning new technical skills, dealing with people, etc.), I just turn to the appropriate chapter in this book for a pep talk and action steps that I can take today to keep me moving up my career ladder.

Wonderful, Funny, and overall great

AS a major book reader I thought I might as well read it since I know the author. I was shocked. It was better than the book I was reading before and I couldn't put it down. I like funny books and also Fantasy which the book has both of. The drawings are fun and cartoonish but the book has such great details that you can create the characters by yourself without looking at th pictures. It is also very creative in the sense of creating a whole new world under our very feet. The book has one great big twist in it which I would never have realized if I stopped reading the book. Also the way the Nuldoids speak is a real fun creative way. Overall it is a book that you won't be able to put down and one that you'll laugh and smile over. There are serious parts and just out right funny parts. I say read it!

Wow!!! Fanciful Journey

This book came across my desk as just another project to read. By the end of the first chapter I was sucked into the world of the Nuldoids, the mischievous tone that the author sets with these vibrant characters allows you to escape and imagine what a world "under" the earth might be like. Be prepared to whisked away on a fanciful journey where funerals are parties and politicians pick up the trash. I heartily recommend "The Wheel of Nuldoid."

Same Book, Different Names

Buyer beware: this book, "Handstand Drills and Conditioning," is the EXACT SAME book as the author's "Gymnastics Drills and Conditioning for the Handstand."

I bought the latter and picked up some tips for developing the handstand.

I then bought this book, "Handstand Drills and Conditioning," anticipating drills and conditioning sequences using the handstand.

I am pretty pissed off to discover they are both, literally, the same book. The only difference is the words on the cover. All content from the title page on is identical.

In 1844, Albert Koch, then an obscure but passionate paleontologist, began his remarkable journey. His objective was paleontological exploration, and his travels took him by land and water from Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, to New Orleans and Alabama in search of the gigantic sea serpent, or Zeuglodon. His full, day-by-day, record of his journey was excerpted and published in Germany in 1847. The book, which is extremely rare, is here translated and published in English for the first time.

Ernst A. Stadler, the translator and edi�tor of this edition, was born in Passau, Bavaria, in 1928, and educated in Ger�many. He is a resident of St. Louis, where he is employed by Anheuser-Busch.

Barnum the scientist

This delightful book provides, as few do, an interesting behind-the-scenes look at a remarkable facet of American history. Of the countless idosyncratical stories that combine to make up what we call Americana, this is among the most interesting from the early nineteenth century.

Albrecht Koch was a successful freelance German bone-hunter in the day of antediluvians; a self-promoted, self-styled scientist; and a showman worthy of P.T. Barnum's envy. Koch, among other pursuits, excavated mastodon bones from springs in the Missouri Ozarks; from these he (mis)assembled a complete sketeton of what he termed the "Missourium", which he sold to the British Museum, who correctly identified the remains as those of a mastodon, reassembled the bones correctly (Koch had the tusks recurved), and have displayed the skeleton in London ever since. This and other episodes combine for a very nice walk in history in the company of a one-of-a-kind man.

Two of Koch's excavated spring deposits were re-excavated in the 70s, revealing wooden planks installed by Koch on the dug-out muck, and providing samples for more sophisticated studies. I myself was privileged to visit the new digs when the scientists were finished, and in the wall of a pit I myself found a small fragment of a mastodon bone; needless to say, that experience made for a greater appreciation of this worthy book, which I heartily recommend to the general reader.

About the Author
We have managed to find the ideal author for this new book, Chris Gibbs, a 42-year-old semiretired web designer and vice secretary, newsletter editor and technical adviser of the Locost Car Club. He has impeccable credentials for the job in hand, as he built his own Locost between 1997 and 1999 and has access to a tremendous database of Locost information through the Locost Car Club, which he currently runs in his spare time. He is currently working on a self-designed single-seater track-day car in the style of a 1960s F1 car, with Sierra running gear and a Honda Fireblade motorcycle engine.

Best DIY Car Instruction Book So Far

Chris Gibbs has taken the 'Locost' concept a step further. As this new book has CAD drawings (I believe done on Solidworks), it probably does not have any dimension errors that crept into the Ron Champion book. The book takes you through drawings and instructions so you can end up with a Ford Sierra (Merkur) based roadster. All you need are tools, patience, time, money and a lot of hard work. The single donor vehicle concept helps but only if the abovementioned vehicle is available (and affordable!) in your country. However, with some ingenuity and help from other builders online, you may be able to come up with something good. If you have questions there's even an official Haynes Roadster Forum to help you! Author Chris Gibbs participates in this official Haynes forum and posts updates to the book, corrections (yes even this book needs a few), advice and guidance.

Ron champion still the champion

I own all the previous editions of this book. This has been the least usefull unless you really do have the donor car used in it. I recommend the Ron champion book instead because it gives more latitude to adapt many old cars instead of one single rear suspension from a European ford. If this will be the first book of this type that you will purchase then I would recommend it. Those with experience and access to the internet would be better off with Ron champions book.

NOT the new locost reference

I was really expecting this book to bring a much needed update on Ron Champion's book but it's more of the same. The donor is still UK only and even there, it's getting hard to find. The drawings have dimensional errors like Champion's book. The design of the chassis is still lacking because it still does not incorporate some triangulations (Aussie mods) that are known to improve rigidity. A lot of the new designs shown in the book are overly complex (the pedal box is a good example). Finally, it still leaves a bunch of details out. I would recommend people to stay with Champion's book for inspiration and complement with Tanner's book or join a forum.
